March 1, 200323 yr Hi,Read the thread in this link.http://www.pprune.org/forums/showthread.ph...&highlight=VrefAfter reading this thread a few months back, I have now incorporated some of the stuff in it into my SOP for PIC.Example, Airtours(MYTravel) & JMC both enter V2+15 speed and 3000ft into the VNAV climb page as a speed restriction.British Airways use V2+15 and 1000ft.By doing this and arming VNAV before Take Off in PIC, you can gaurantee that the Autothrottle and aircraft will never exceed the V2+15 speed until reaching the Altitude you entered as your acceleration height.Notice also that CLB Thrust is selected passing 1500ft.Mark
March 1, 200323 yr MarkHowever, BA do not select VNAV until Aa of 1000ft AAL?Is there any other way you could guarantee the speed does not creep past V2+15 (or a max of V2+25 as described in the BA flying manual)??
March 1, 200323 yr Tom,As a workaround method, this works extremely effectively. What I do is have Vnav Armed on the ground, and depending if the SID has an immediate turn or not, LNAV also. Once passing 400ft, VNAV starts to provide FD guidance. Then normally once I am passed the flap clean up altitude, I will engage the autopilot.Another suggestion that you may want to try -Enter the V2+15 and the altitude you want into the VNAV CLB page.Do Not Arm VNAV on the ground.Do a Normal Take Off.Passing 1000ft Select VNAV.Does this make a difference?Mark
