March 7, 200323 yr I,ve tried searching under "APU STARTING" but cannot find any mention of this problem. After loading the 767 and completeing Engine Start, I shut the APU down and close the overhead panel. After a while if I go back to the overhead panel later the APU has started again (by itself) and I get an EICAS message "APU GEN DISCON" or words to that effect.(I guess because the APU generator is off) I know the APU is not burning fuel and so I can ignore it but it is unreal, and messes up the checklist. I've read about this problem before but am not sure what to do as it was a long time ago.Yours faithfullyAndrew Simmons"No trees were destroyed in the sending of this message. However, a significant number of electrons were terribly inconvenienced. "
March 7, 200323 yr Andrew,It sounds as if you have shut down the APU Electrics, and not the actual APU. Leave the electrics alone. After engine start APU Shutdown procedure:APU BLD AIR - OFF.CTR ISOL Valve - OPENAPU STARTER SWITCH - OFF.To restart the APUAPU BLD AIR - ONCTR ISOL Valve - ClosedAPU STARTER SWITCH - ONThis works every time.Mark
March 7, 200323 yr No Its still starts, the actuall switch moves when I switch the overhead panel view on and off, first to the Run position then to Start, with each sucsesive view change. APU OFFBleed Valve OFFIsolation Valve OFFAPU still starts by itself.Andrew
March 7, 200323 yr I dont know why you are having this problem but after I pushback and start up my engines I do this:APU Selector-OFFL and R Isolation Switches-OFFPacks-AUTOMaybe its because you are turning off the bleed valve which you are not supposed to do. Try this because I am getting no warnings or errors.Good flights always
March 7, 200323 yr Did you check the hotkeys setup under the PIC menu???Perhaps the hotkey for APU Off and for Overhead Panel Off do conflict...
March 7, 200323 yr You were spot on Jaaky I was using the END key for the panel and the PIC key for APU(+) or on was the same key. Problem fixed.AndrewThanks all
March 8, 200323 yr Glad to be of help.I've actually removed most of the hotkeys that I do not use, in the PIC menu as well as in the FS menu. Helps to avoid unexpected events in hectic flight situations :-smile12
