Real Sounds

Featured Replies

Hi all. Im not a pro in fs sound design so i have a couple of questions. I use pic with all of my 767s and also my dc-10s since its very close to the dc10s flight guidance system. My first question deals with the engine sounds. The plane i fly in real life uses the cf6-50c2 engine which has variants that are used by 767s and other jets. First lets look at starting. Engine starting in fs20002 is too quick and unrealistic. I wonder is there a way to slow down the speed of engine starting?. Now hopefully you could help me configure my sounds to work in the way ill describe. This is the real life start sequence im familiar with in the dc-10. First we push in the starter button. At this time a low rumbling sound can be heard as the starter spins the engine. You can even feel a low vibration. At 15% n2 we lift the fuel lever to the on position. Around 7 to 10 seconds the egt will start to quickly climb. At 30%n2 a increasing loud deep wooing sound can be heard. At 40%n2 the wooing sound dies off and a accelorating whine sound can be heard as the fan spools up. At 45%n2 the starter button pops out and n2 climbs to 65%. The whine becomes constant at 25%n1 and 65%n2 with egt around 400c at idle. This process on a average summer day can take about a minute from fuel lever on till idle. Id love to get the sounds and timing to happen at appropiate times. Ive seen sound packages that have the wooing sound, but it happens at starter engagement which is way too early since it comes around 30%n2. Another sound id like to simulate is the groan of the fans at takeoff. First before we start takeoff roll we push the throttles to 45%n1,(which is flight idle), to allow the engines to reach a nice common setting since they often have different accellorating charactoristics among the three. Once engines are at 45%n1 and throttles are positioned so that engines will have even accelloration the captain states set takeoff power. The engines are relatively silent as they are smoothly advanced. Passing 90%n1 a loud groan from the fans can be heard. It would be nice to have this happen at 90%n1. Last and dc-10 specific is the gear sounds. On the 10 our turn off lights are positioned below and aft of door 1 left and 1 right. In the off position the lights are flush with the skin. When swithced on they rotate out and foward. While extended in flight the lights make a wooshing sound like the gear. The sound is half that of the gear. Our lights are on below 10000ft and turned off climbing above 10000ft. It would be nice to hear the low wooshing sound as you turn on the landing lights down through 10000ft. Is there a way to make this happen with pic turnoff light switches? Im sorry if this ran too long but im looking for realism and i give all the information to help you understand. If you can help let me know..............rich
