June 19, 200322 yr We've all been there, flying a STAR with an altitude level restriction, that VNAV struggles to meet. Standard practice has been to create a psuedo waypoint about 3 miles prior to meet the altitude restriciton.Stumbled across this thread on the 737 on PPRUNE:http://www.pprune.org/forums/showthread.ph...ht=VNAV+descentOne of the posters there advocates changing the level restriction in the FMC to 500ft lower than planned, leaving the MCP Altitude Window at the Level Restriction altiude when in VNAV descent.Have tried this out in PIC, and arrive at the waypoint at the assigned restriction altitude bang on.
