Deleting Default 767 PIC files

Featured Replies

I'm trying to recover hard drive space in preparation for COF2004. Since I never fly any of the default 767 PIC aircraft, what files can I safely remove?

I would think you could delete the model and texture folders. YOu might want to rename those folders before removing and fire up some tests. If you're using PIC + POSKY, the only things in the aircraft767 PIC Wilco Publishing folder that are used are the Panel and Sounds folders. It wouldn't hurt to keep the .air file in a safe place in case you need it again by clobbering it accidentally. The .air file is pure gold.Lee Hetherington (KBED)

Move your panel and sound folder into your PIC/POSKY folder(provided you do it like me and keep all of your planes in one folder) Delete the 767 PIC folder(save the .air file). You'll be fine because the panel and sounds are in a safe place....so don't delete the PIC folder until you moved that stuff. Now for the real big disk saver. Start up FS2k2, and go into your scenery library. Remove the 767 PIC scenery library entry and then exit FS. You can down delete the 767 PIC folder in your scenery dir. All told, I think I saved myself cllse to 300 mbs when I followed this procedure.

Lee and Fred,Thank you very much.

Fred, how could I forget the scenery folder! Thanks. I have 56MB in there.Lee Hetherington (KBED)

Yep, I had done a minimum install and I still had 44 MB in my scenery folder. What I did was rename the existing panel and sound cfg files in the PIC/POSKY merge folder then imported the Panel and Sound folders from the Wilco Publishing folder. Since the panel and sound configuration files were aliased in the merge; it was necessary to bring the actual files over from the Wilco folder to replace those in the merge folder.
