August 6, 200322 yr I`m trying landing practice at Gatwick. There`s nothing set in the FMC. I`m lined up for an approach to 26L (110.90). As soon as I press the AP button, my heading goes from 260 to 000 and my plane veers off to the right.I`ve tried from different altitudes and distances from Gatwick, but everytime it`s the same - I veer off to the right.Using PIC767 in normal flight produces no problems. But with this landing practice, everything goes haywire.I`d be grateful if someone could advise what I`m doing wrong.Cheers, crashproof
August 7, 200322 yr Have you dialed up the QDM (runway direction) in the window next to the ILS frequency? While an ILS will always display correct tracking information regardless of what QDM you have dialed up, the autopilot will not correctly track the localiser unless it is right.
August 7, 200322 yr You were absolutly right! I haven`t used PIC for some time but I can never remember putting anything into that box before. How have I got away with it? Or is it something that would only be apparent on landing practice?Anyway, thanks a million. I was beginning to wonder what was happening to my favorite aircraft.Cheerscrashproof
