August 21, 200322 yr VNAV Descent.Altitude Restriction of say 15000ft.15000ft set in MCP.Set 14500ft as the restriction on the FMC.Do Not alter the MCP setting.Watch in amazement as PIC meets the restriction level at 15000ft.this was gleaned from a post on the Tech Log forum of pprune.I have tried this in PIC and can verify that it works.
August 21, 200322 yr Am I missing something or are you just demonstrating that the MCP altitude is overriding the FMC altitude?Lee Hetherington (KBED)
August 21, 200322 yr Sometimes the PIC does not make the crossing restriction in the VNAV descent....reducing the crossing altitude by 500 feet in the FMC and leaving the MCP set at the correct restriction altitude will get you better results.Rob.
August 21, 200322 yr As Rob says a quick way to guarantee hitting the Altitude Restriction bang on.Other methods normally involve creating a psuedo waypoint some 2-3 miles before the Alt Restriction - however this is easier.
