August 28, 200322 yr All,Ok, I gave in and intalled a tinbox 2004 on my HD. Also, I tried unsuccessfully to install MegaScenery. A few quick notes on what I found.1.2004 looks and "feels," great. Airports have taxiway signs already installed. The new clouds look really good. . .but their not perfect. . .especially when viewing from the ground. The sunsets look incredible. . .VERY realistic.2. Everything seems to run VERY smooth. I'm running a straight P1.7 with GeForce2. I can't give you frame rate numbers. However, everything ran smooth with the default settings. Each airport had more A/I activity and the skies had way more traffic than 2002. Also, the autogen seemed to kick in way more stuff. All, with no apparent hit in performance.3. 90% into the MegaScenery install I received an error message and the install halted. The problem has to do with XP users not using the NTFS file system. I e-mailed tech support, they know about it and are going to release a patch in the next several days. However, considering new immersive level offered with 2004, MegaScenery is a must-have for those who like to do some fair-wx flying in the included areas. . .and for right now. . .that area is Southern California.Overall, 2004 looks better and "feels," better. The immersion level is better. And, it runs better on mid-level systems. 2004 is a must-have for sim enthusiasts. Considering that 767PIC is also a must-have where does that leave us?Bottom line is that an upgrade patch will not be enough. Considering the new level of quality offered by 2004, a NEW version of 767 is warranted. So, which is it going to be. . .patch or version?
