FMC LEGS ENTRY QUESTION

Featured Replies

ive been trying to figure this one out for awhile. on the legs page entry theres sometimes a waypoint with an entry like (500) 090 trk .is basically a track heading with an altitude restriction then another one follows. How do you punch those types of waypoints in from the fmc from what i know you need a location first . And is not a radial entry cause it would show as one.

It is part of the SID or STAR file. I don't believe you can enter parentheses on the FMC keyboard. In reality, those would be conditional waypoints (e.g., maintain heading/track until a certain altitude) and wouldn't really have a fixed lat/lon, but this is not possible in PIC.Lee Hetherington (KBED)

yeah i noticed is in the star or sid file, but it comes up in the legs page also as a waypoint which it follows. I thought of that trying to punch in lat and long with height limit but it definetly doesnt take it and of course doesnt add its entry with the {}. I would think the real FMC is capable of this input and with the pic only through the sid or star file modified directly. The pmdg 737ng shows this waypoint type also but again havent been able to find how to input this type of entry via the FMC directly. Anybody know

You cannot enter this type of entry directly via the FMC either in PIC or the real aircraft. The real aircraft has these conditional waypoints hard coded into their database.

Hi,You can however edit the SID or STAR files in notepad. That way, you can easily make entries like (INTC), it's a bit like hard-coding them in....
