Simflyers and frame rates

Recommended Posts

I was just over at the screenshots forum and I saw some great picts of KLAX using "Simflyers" scenery addon's. Who uses this and how bad does it affect frame rates? It looks great, but I can image that you would get a large frame rate hit. Also do the trucks and the ramps and other things move? Or are they static graphics.Thanks...Josh[br][br][div align=center][br][link:members.cox.net/fstimes/wetimage.html]Click Here For Weather Image of the Day!

Hi Josh! You can remove the statics. Be warned add a full fleet of PAI, your frame rate will drop somewhat. :)With 50% traffic, the FPS is great. jd

Simflyer's KLAX is by far the most complex of the Simflyer's sceneries IMHO (DFW is right up there as well.) With the below rig, I get around 10FPS in the terminal area (everything maxed out.) All the vehicals in the scenery are static.Ryan-Flightpro08 :-coolVATSIM Pilot/ControllerZLA ARTCC Controller 1 (C-1)SAN TRACON Lead [link:www.taxiwaysigns.com]Taxiwaysigns.com Scenery Designer-----------------------------My "Home Made" System Specs:Intel Pentium 4 2.2GHz ProcessorTurbo Gamer ATX Mid-Tower with 420W Power SupplyEPoX 4G4A Motherboard with Intel 845G ChipsetVisiontek XTASY GeForce4 128MB Ti4600 (Det 30.30 Drivers)512MB PC2100 DDR RAM40GB Matrox 7200RPM Hard DriveWindows XP Home Edition*No CPU or GPU Overclocking*3dMark2001SE Score: 10480

Ryan,This is off topic here but I notice you are a taxiway signs designer. I love the addons you folks have provided but it seems like development has slowed to a crawl. When I asked about becoming a designer, I was told they weren't accepting anymore. I desperately want to add signs to my local airport and to start working on some of the big ones that have been ignored. What is the status of taxiway signs and how do I get started? Thanks!David
