Jimmy Buffett's Albatross, not Goose?

Recommended Posts

A morning at the Cradle of Aviation Museum on Long Island, checking the paint scheme of their wonderful Pan American Goose (NC16913), had me checking things out on Airliners.net when I got home. Not only is she well shown there but I also came across the cockpit of Jimmy Buffett's Air Margaritaville Grumman HU-16C Albatross, 'Hemisphere Dancer' (N928J). Being unable to trace my copies of "Margaritaville" or "A Pirate at Forty" or, come to that, my salt shaker, does anyone happen to know whether, therefore, he does/did actually own a Goose or was the Albatross his only folly?Mark "Dark Moment" BeaumontP.S. If you've never been to the C of A Museum, it's really good. Mitchel Field, LI. You can get a taste of it at http://www.cradleofaviation.org. Note that the Goose you'll see on the site is the same aircraft, but in her previous colours for "Tales of the Golden Monkey". In the museum, she's in blue. My two-year-old daughter's favourite moment was sitting in the wonderful Convair 580 cockpit they have there; not a switch was left untouched, and the yoke probably needs an overhaul now. http://www.swiremariners.com/cxkaitak.htmlhttp://www.swiremariners.com/reds.htmlhttp://www.swiremariners.com/cxkaitakv3.jpg
