I have been getting lockups and then computer crashes aftera few seconds. Seems to only happen in SB. The error messageis a possible hardware failure during a write operation on myvideo card. Only started doing this a month or so ago. Anyonehave any info on this?

For info - this problem kept getting worse and worse until FS wouldn't run more than 10 minutes. I went back to the previousdriver, then went back to direct-x 8, then reformatted my harddisk and reloaded everything. Nothing helped. New Walmartopened nearby, so I bought a GE force 5200 on sale, and noweverything works great with all sliders maxed. The old card wasa Hercules 3d prophet 64 meg. This card had been working finefor three years. The manufacturer had the audacity to tell methat this card wouldn't work with 512m of memory (too much) so I should take out 256m from my box, It has been working for 3 years with it. Sometimes I think these tech advisors make up things asthey go along. I think the card just finally crapped out. At any rate, it was irritating to have to spend over 100 clams to replace a three year old card, but I guess that's life.
