New Global Rating Restriction

The following policy will be in effect in *all* VATSIM Regions, effective July 1, 2002, and applies to Air Traffic Controllers only: *No* VATSIM Member, rated below Senior Student (below VATSIM level 4) may work a Center/Centre (CTR) or Flight Service Station (FSS) position on the VATSIM Network. Any VATSIM ATC rated Senior Student and above may work these positions, although *all* ATC are subject to any additional Regional, Divisional, and Facility (i.e. vACC/FIR/ARTCC) Rating Restrictions imposed locally. Those ATC wishing to work these positions as CTR or FSS who are rated Student are encouraged to contact their Divisional TrainingDepartment or their Facility Chief, in order to obtain the training and pass the testing necessary to work those positions as a Senior Student. It should be noted that FSS positions are already banned in many VATSIM Regions, due to the network bandwidth they consume, and there may be local policies restricting the ability to work CTR below a certain level (such as Senior Student, Controller or Senior Controller).Sincerely, Tom Schroeder Chairman, VATSIM Executive Committee
