Hi all,I've been using VATSIM for a couple years and I've flown into some pretty bad landing wx before, whereas in real life, I may have been told to hold at the gate, enter a holding pattern or go to an alternate if the wx is getting or has already gotten bad. I've never seen anyone use these kind of procedures before, am I wrong or is this too life like? I'd love to know of ARTCC's that implement these procudures.MaulWho Wants To Fly The Big Jets In & Out Of Chicago O'Hare...I DO! :-wave

Well, unless requested, we don't put you on alternates or holding patterns because of weather. To make it more lifelike, we put you on holding patterns if the traffic is getting really really heavy or arrivals are getting pretty tight. I issue those all the time. But weather, that is strictly the pilots discretion. If the words choppy and request higher/lower, then we issue that kind of clearence or deviation from the weather. So here is the summary-Holding/Alternate Routing issued when high traffic is around.-Weather deviations issued when pilot requests it.benjieChicago ARTCC
