Squawkbox connect error

Featured Replies

Hi,I'm a VATSIM newbie. When conneting to VATSIM in Squawk Standby mode the following dialog box is received: "Connect Error: WSAETIMEDOUT The attempt to connect timed out without establishing a connection". I'm using Host SB DLL from within FS9 and also tried using the stand alone SB Host.exe with the same result. My Linksys router has the ports enabled as per 103d and the referenced MS support document for DirectPlay. Running Windows 2000 Pro (SP4 with all update). Searched the forum for the error but found no hits. Any ideas?Regards,Nick

Nick,Welcome to Vatsim!!Ok, the IP address's that come with SQBox are invalid. Visit the www.vatsim.net web page, who's online link. There you will find a list of server IP's. If your running a firewall, this could also be a problem. You might check that out. You also might try going around your router and see if you can connect. Perhaps someone with experience with Lynksys Routers will also reply.Marv

Hi MarvChecked the server IP addresses at vatsim.net against the SB addresses and they were the same. I had previously used ServInfo to update those addys. However, I did not realize that not all servers would be available. The CANADA server is not online, which is the one I was trying to connect. Switched to USA-SE server and that worked. Thanks for the help.Regards,Nick

What "Canada server"? There hasn't been one of those in over 2 years. Definitely worth deleting your ipaddr.txt and generating a new, clean one with ServInfo.
