SquawkBox install on WinXP with MSFS2004.. where is the "CSL" folder?

Featured Replies

I was reading through the installation directions here for installing SquawkBox for MSFS2004... it says:1. Once you have downloaded Squawkbox, unzip it and run the SETUP.exe fileNote: if FS2002 is not installed on your system, you need to manually create these folders so that SB can be installed. You may delete them once you have completed this set-upX:Program FilesMicrosoft GamesFS2002AircraftX:Program FilesMicrosoft GamesFS2002Models2. Follow the install prompts

When I installed, installation did put those filesdirectly under c: i.e. "c:Aircraft".I don't know why but try look there.Lennart Vedin SAS202

okay I just manually download the CSV stuff from here: http://homepages.paradise.net.nz/seang1/csl/It appears that this file: [CSL_ICAO.zip] Aircraft database, unzip into your Squawkbox folder in this .zip file is NEWER than the one installed and it has MORE aircraft in it...So I just used these 2 .zip files off this site...that gives me the newest and best CSV stuff right?P.S. -> why do you need this CSV business.. when you play regular multiplayer through FlightSim say over the Zone or over IP, you don't have to install CSV and you can still see each other's aircraft and other AI aircraft... why is it different with VatSim ?by the way, mine installed to the C: drive like you too..but I am not using that becasue I already did the above..

CSV = CSLYup your right you don't need it direct person to person and in the zone. Problem you run in too is get 10 or 15 aircraft on the ground with you and your frame rates can drop to the point nothing. The CSLs are a group of common low res aircrafts that your computer can display with out causing too much problem with you frame rate. You'll see what i meen first time you run into some one using a non-standered CSL, you'll see yourself and if your computer is not up to it your FPS will drop off a little.SB3 will correct all of this.

1.) Yes I can't wait for SB3 to come out, anybody know when this will be released?2.) How will it correct this issue? won't you still need to use a CSL folder with the new SB3?3.) When you connect direct or through the zone, what does it do, transmit all the aircrafts textures over the net to you to display it on your screen? Is this what slows your frame rates down?4.) I noticed last night (before I installed the CSL directory that all the planes I saw where the same plane as me, but I didn't notice if they had the same callsign as me.. are you saying that if you don't have this CSL directory all the planes will ALSO have the same callsign as you aside from being the same aircraft as you?5.) What happens if somebody is using a non-standard CSL plane that I DO NOT have in my CSL directory, what will I see on my screen when I am in the vicinity of them?6.) Finally, when you are setting up your mulitplayer session through MSFS2004 if you click under "Host Settings" what should I put for the number of other pilots? The max is 16. Does this mean that the MAX amount of aircraft besides me that I can see in any one place is 16? This could be a problem if say you are flying somewhere busy like LAX or JFK where there could very well be 30+ aircraft just on the ground alone. How does the program handle this then when there are more than 16 aircraft in view?sorry for all the questions, just want to know exactly what to expect.. thanksThanks again!
