Sqaukbox crashes

Featured Replies

I've finished installing all the software to get this system working in FS2004. I got to the step to launch Squawkbox, I click "Start Search", I leave the IP address blank, I get the SBRelay entry in the list, then I click Join and Squawkbox crashes. I had downloaded the full Pilot Software set from the download page and followed the installation instructions for FS2004 from Pilot Resources.Any ideas on what could be wrong? Could this be firewall related?Thinking of learning to fly? Visit my journal: http://www.myflightjournal.com

Dear GroupI have exact same problem and now I gave up after struggling with this squawkox for 2 days.In my case, it's ended with windows XP crash report thingi.I dont think it's firewall related. all firewall softwares were off during the set up.Hope we could get some clues here.

Are you using HostSB.dll or SBHost.exe? Some times the dll gives people problems, no idea why. Give the exe a try it comes with SB and should be in your SB folder. Run it same way you would the DLL just start it once FS/SBRelay(fs9 users)is up and then load SB. See if that works

However, I get this error in the SBRelay console:"Failed Enumerating the Hosts".Did I start something up in the wrong order? Or does this look like a firewall issue? I still haven't set up any static routes yet, although I can fly FS in MP mode normally.Thinking of learning to fly? Visit my journal: http://www.myflightjournal.com

Now I se something might be wrong.I do as following order:1. Start SBRelay12.exe2. StartFS2004.3. I get the SBRelay entry in the list and click "Join" in FS2004.(How can SBHost.exe or HostSB.dll crash now, I haven't start it yet)4. Now I start SBHost.exe or HostSB.dll .Lennart Vedin SAS202

...5. And after SBHost.exe or HostSB.dll, I start squawkbox.exeLennart Vedin SAS202

>5. And after SBHost.exe or HostSB.dll, I start squawkbox.exeI managed to get SB started. I did everything else, starting with SBHost.exe first (which opens a Window on my desktop). But I ALSO had to use Modules/HostSB->Run as well before launching SB, which then hooked into the SBHost window. At this point I don't know what to do next. I got some SB UI up, including an IDENT button, but I don't see a way to launch Advanced Voice Client. Perhaps I missed a more detailed walkthrough?Thinking of learning to fly? Ok, I got it all working. With some helpful hand-holding from a fellow #flightsim member, I got it all up and running. My only problem now is something is seriously wrong with the Advanced Voice Client. I get perfect voice comm in Ventrilo and Teamspeak, but it's all clipped and garbled in AVC. Not sure what to do about that.Thinking of learning to fly? Visit my journal: http://www.myflightjournal.com

Try both sound-options "Direct Sound" and "Wave" in AVC, see if it make difference.Open UDP port 3290 and 3782 in your firewall, for AVC.Lennart Vedin SAS202

>Try both sound-options "Direct Sound" and "Wave" in AVC, see>if it make difference. It didn't. >>Open UDP port 3290 and 3782 in your firewall, for AVC.These are already open for out-bound connections, and I can listen to voice traffic on the various channels correctly. It's just MY voice that is getting garbled. Might I need to open them (and set up static routes) for INBOUND connections for some reason?

If it's your voice when you test local by AVC test-playback.It's not firewall. It could be - sound-options "Direct Sound" and "Wave".- direct-X version.- your microphone/amplifier.If it's broken, then it's some software-problem as above. If it's "just" analog distrotion and you pass the AVC microphone-test.Note the sound is not at all hi-fi, it's quite low bit-rate to simply transfer at internet, and the test-playback show how it iswhen transmitted. But of cause you should hear what you speaking.Lennart Vedin SAS202

>If it's your voice when you test local by AVC test-playback.>It's not firewall. That's what I figured. >- sound-options "Direct Sound" and "Wave".>- direct-X version.>- your microphone/amplifier.I don't think it's any of these, as I have Ventrilo and TeamSpeak clients and they both work flawlessly. >If it's "just" analog distrotion and you pass the AVC>microphone-test.It's not distortion, since I turned the mic input down a bit and the mic test says I'm "cold", even though the volume sounds good, but it still is clipped. Very weird. I wonder if this is "fixed" in the SB3 beta. I've been trying to get involved with that.

The beta team for SB3 full at this time.As for fixing your problem, SB3 uses the same software engine for voice as AVC so it may not.Do you have Ventrilo and TeamSpeak runnig along with AVC? Try shutting them down and see what happens.
