ESSQ should really be ESOK, wx updating problem

Featured Replies

Hi,The code for the Swedish airport Karlstad is ESOK but on VATSIM if i am there and i request a weather update it updates ESSQ instead.ESSQ is the old code for that airport. I like to fly in & out of that airport and i love #### weather but every time i fly there i have clear skies because ESSQ weather is loaded on Vatsim and because ESSQ is not listed as being weatrher reporting i get clear skies every time. Can this be fixed?Best Regards / Jan

Vatsim weather is loaded from a real world weather reporting server, so the problem is most likely with that server.I just pulled up weather for ESOK in servinfo and FSMetar and got weather, ESSQ is showing as an invalid station.FSMetar is a freeware weather controll program that works with Vatsim, it does a much better job then SB does for weather, give it a try. Look for it at Avsim

Hi,Thanks for your reply. I don't really know how this all works but when i go in to ACARS and request an ESOK metar, i get an ESOK metar. If i request it via ASRC i also get an ESOK metar. Same via Servinfo and on the Vatsim homepage. When i am positioned on the apron of ESOK and do "Update weather" in Squawkbox, i get "WX request issued for ESSQ" and because ESSQ is not a valid airport (It's the very old code for ESOK) i always have clear skies and no wind no matter what the metar for ESOK says =)I am using FS2002 and SB 2.3 Beta.My guess is that there must be some mapping of the icao codes somewhere that is not correctly set. There is a file in the Squawkbox directory called ICAO.DAT i am going to see if i can peek inside it =)Take care & Best Regards / Jan

Hi again,Voila. Found it.In the ICAO.DAT file in the Squawkbox directory it said ESSQ. I changed it to ESOK and tested and now i got weather from ESOK instead.Cheers / Jan
