It is time for the legendary Frankfurt Overload, where software developers stress their pilot- and controllerclients to their limits, where serveradmins add extra cooling units to their servers, and when actually half of VATSIM flies towards Frankfurt, to experience Frankfurt at maximum traffic density.Year after year we continue to advance our Overload, one of VATSIMs classics, to the next level. 5 years ago, 300 pilots were handled by 8 controllers, in 2006 we were facing the limits with 500 pilots directed by 18 controllers.By now up to three top controllers (some with reallife background) are on duty only for steering the traffic in the background by coordinating the different positions and the adjacent FIRs, to prevent individual stations overload and to optimize traffic flow. This year Frankfurt will be staffed with more than 20 controllers at the Frankfurt area, to host this supersized event together with you, the pilots.From 18:00h local time to midnight (1700z to 2300z) Frankfurt Airport and its adjacent sectors provide an online feeling, which could not be more realistic, utilizing current real world procedures. This Friday [23.11.2007 / 1900z-2200z] is Frankfurt Friday. The day prior the overload event, Frankfurt will offer a training opportunity [1900z-2200z] for our fellow pilots and the event controllers to practise overload procedures with a full staffed airport.
