May 8, 200224 yr Anyone interested in getting their hands on a real C-130 cockpit there are about 10 that are being dismantled at KGED in Georgetown, DE. The a/c are being stipped for parts....I'm sure the cockpits will be free as long as you come in and cut them out ...bring your torches

The a/c are being stipped for >parts....I'm sure the cockpits will be free as long as you >come in and cut them out ...bring your torches If these are Air Force or Air National guard C130's that have been retired from duty, then more than likely they are being demilitarized for auction not simply stripped of parts. It would be nice if the cockpits were free for the asking, but the government rarely gives away anything without trying to recoup some costs first! There is also the possibility that the aircraft have already been auctioned off and are being stripped for the metal recyclers/scrap yards! With regards to military surplus, congress passed a law not too long ago regarding military equipment that pretty much assures that these aircraft are heading for the smelter!
May 9, 200224 yr no these are ex RAF C-130's that lockheed martin is selling....the aircraft are being dismantled for parts and the remainder are being scrapped by a junk yard collector for scrap!!!.....this is a good deal if you want one......a/c are not being auctioned off. The airport is paying the guy to haul the fuselages away...so he won't mind if you take a cockpit or two.
May 9, 200224 yr Scraps about $60/ton picked up...I doubt he's paying them to haul them, but all the same, I'm sure he'll sell them to you cheap if you sign a liability waiver and do the chop job yourself.Thomas LinTaxiwaySigns.comVolunteers (testers and designers) needed, please visit the site for information
