LCD Projector Question

Featured Replies

I am looking to get a LCD Projector for my Home Cocpit. I've gone to Ebay and there are tons of them for sale. What do I want to look for for using with MSFS. Is there a certain type I should look for, Reselutions? Would probably just be on a screen for now but would eventually like to get a curved screen for the windshiel of the sim. Really don't know anything about this so any help would be great. Thks

PeterKWell..way beyond any price i can afford one of these things I actuallyuse them at work all the time...Besides the big Epson rigs that area straight SVGA projector to a big piece of frosted plexy glasswe have to small portable overhead projoction units..the displayhas a svga input which projects up through a mirror and on to the wallor screen..it is not as bright as the direct projectors but in a darkroom looks just fine using windows or other software.. Its come down to Money and room..Instead of a curved wall You can use White cloth or frosted plexglass...more money more wattagebrighter projection..Pete

Found this on EBAY. Would this work ok ??1200 Ansi Lumens* True XGA Resolution (1024 x768 pixels)*- HDTV COMPATIBLE -- Digital Keystone Correction -Thanks for any info

PeterKThe big question...???Who makes it?? Its projection light bulbs that pop once a monthANd have to call tokyo to buy is the catch..1200 Lumens is the light Value...These projector have digital and analog inputs so basically theywork off computers and DVD equipment...Most the stuff I use Is Epson...not pushing the product...just what we have the most of on the jobPrice is the catch...Remember your not going to light up a 8x20footpiece of frosted glass....see if you can go with a small overhead projector unit..pete

Am I correct in asuming that if I want a curved front screen framed in I'm going to have to go with a rear projection system then. Seems like other wise you have the outside image showing on the frame and such. Correct??

PeterKWell..depends on what your going to do...do you have the room from behind to project to a screen...Note the projector has a reverse videoswitch so it is correct diplaying..The ones I work with need about6-8 feet for a 10 foot wide projection...Or are you going to front project...The overhead projector acts just like the ones in high school...The direct project can be diplayedforward onto a flat surface or an angled shape...it does not reallyhave to be a curved suface..try http://www.link.com to get some projection ideas from some pictures of real cockpit trainers...pete

  • 1 month later...

I just bought an Epson lightbook projector. It works great!! $1500.00 @ www.projectorpeople.com600x800 native resilution capable of 1024x768.1200 ansi luminsI use it for rear projection in my cockpit.I bought the material (comes off the roll 7'x whatever you need) aprox $180.00. mine is 7'x5'.I made my screen curve around my front of my cockpit using light aluminum strips taped into a seam on top and bottom of my screen and then created a slight bow using thin wire to hold this bow in place for both top and bottom.(try to keep top and bottom bowed equally)If you have any more questions regarding mine let me know. You can see a picture on this forum "my a320 airbus cockpit"GOOD LUCK!J HOLT
