October 24, 200223 yr Hi everyone,I thought i might share with everyone my cockpit project! Here are a couple of pictures showing it...active and not active.I am trying to keep it looking like an AIRBUS but the budget is running tight when it comes to "realistic items" for this bird.I built it with a Captain seat only for now until finances clear up.I am currently running this set up with the following:AMD 1.5 MGZ512 DDR RAM1 GFORCE MX 220 VIDEO FOR REAR PROJECTION USING AN EPSON LIGHT PORTABLE PROJECTOR1 GFORCE MX 440 DUAL VIDEO FOR 2 17" MONITORS FOR BEHIND THE PANELUSING PROJECT MAGENTA FOR GAUGES.5'X7' REAR PROJECTION MATERIAL WITH A SLIGHT ARC WRAPPING AROUND THE FRONT.Well, i hope to talk with some of you soon...I also have just built a twin throttle setup with MAX THRUST/IDLE/REV THRUST at the cost of about $50.It works great..but has yet to be enclosed...still working on it!Regards J. Holt
October 25, 200223 yr Great job on the A320..coming along nicely. I'm just getting started and so have some questions:1) Based on you system above do you just have (1) PC running the outside scenery and then the PM and instruments. 2) Your outside view looks fanatastic ! Any chance of some more details around how you did this i.e. type of projector, screen material, size etc.....as much as possible ?3) Could you also put a monitor either side of the Pilot/Co-pilot window for side views and have these run by the (1) PC in 1) above ? or would you need another PC ?Thanks for your help to get us beginners up and running.JB
October 25, 200223 yr Hello JB,Yes i am running only 1 computer. It runs everything!Like i wrote in my thread it consists of:AMD ATHELON 1.5 MGZ512 DDR RAM2 VIDEO CARDS: GFORCE MX 220 FOR PROJECTOR/FRONT VIEW GFORCE MMX 440 DUAL VIDEO OUTPUT FOR MY 2 MONITORS BEHIND THE PANEL.I will add another PC for my Project Magenta software and free up my main PC for FS2002.I will not add side views for now because i want to focus on the "hands on" toys for the cockpit. In regards to my projector,it is an EPSON 51C PORTABLE,WITH 800X600 NATIVE RESOLUTION CAPABLE OF 1024X768.1200 LUMENS NICE AND BRIGHT! 2000 hrs on the lamplife. You can price them atWWW.PROJECTORPEOPLE.COM.This unit cost me $1500My rear projection screen was purchased on the web (dont have the address at the moment)by the sq ft.It comes off the roll at 7' and you decide how much you need.Mine is 7'x5' cost? about $185.I then purchased 8'x1" aluminum strips at HOME DEPOT and created a seam folding over the strips (top and bottom of screen material)and using tape to hold them in the seam pocket. Then using a thin wire to creat a bow on the top and bottom strips. Both "bows" should be equal so the material stays flat. This gives you a "wrap around screen"You will have to experiment with it making sure your picture when projected dosnt distort. It then is suspended from the ceiling using 3hooks and let the bottom hang. Its very light and cheap to make and looks great! Here is a picture of my [email protected] hope this helps
