March 21, 200323 yr I would like to build a sim for my son. (Okay, okay, it's for me too.) I know my way around the guts of a computer. Saws and hammers are not foreign to me either. I have no idea how much I will spend or how far I will go with this project. I may build a full 3-screen cockpit with real controls, or I may simply build some rudder pedals and leave it at that. I'm wondering if there are some good sites to "see what others have done".
March 21, 200323 yr Ok couple of good sites to get you started:www.a320project.comhttp://www.777Project.cjb.net www.projectmagenta.comwww.flightdecksolutions.comwww.deltaflight.comHope this helps.Take care.Roberto
March 21, 200323 yr Kenny,Also take a look at Roland van Roy's article "DIY Cockpit" in the Avsim archive. Search on his name. Check out "How to Build Kev's Cockpit" in the how to section of FlightSim.Com. My own website has an overview of the simpit hobby that may be of interest. If you are interested in military style simulators, take a look at www.bosnjak.com There are a number of people pursuing military sims. I think this site has a pretty good list of links to them along with a great set of construction pictures of his own project. There is an extensive list of sites on the Project Magenta site under "Resources". Mikewww.mikesflightdeck.comInfo for simpit builders.
