August 10, 200322 yr Yup, I could tell it was produced by FDS from the picture before you made an addtional statement. I got one of those too (B767 version) and yes, thank to peter for his wonderful work. If it was not for him, we all would have trouble making one of our own.
August 11, 200322 yr Hi Mathias. Here is a picture of my GPS. It uses a 5" TFT LCD from Parts Express.www.partsexpress.comIt cost $125USD.Regards,Jim
August 11, 200322 yr Hi Jim,thanks a lot for your pic - so a 5" is big enough ?!? Im building a 737 but i beleive that the CDUs from P.Cos are the same size as the airbus...Can you PLEASE mail a pic from the backview of your MCDU with TFT attached ???Thanks very very muchMathias
August 11, 200322 yr Hi Mathias. You can't see anything from the back because I mounted the LCD on the top side of the pcb. I have an extra LCD that is to be used in an FMC that I'm in the planning stages. I'll take a picture of the back side tonight & post it.Regards,Jim
August 11, 200322 yr Hi Mathias. Here is the back of the GPS. Doesn't show much.Regards,JimSorry. Forgot to attach the picture.
August 11, 200322 yr Hi guysI also have the FMC from FDS ready to mount the LCD. On the FDS site are some building tips for the FMC/MCDU.For the LCD the tutorrial from david tremolada is of interest . He has a 5,6 inch LCD. On the picture it is too big.Does anyone has experience with 5 inch?I already soldered only the outside pins of the LSK buttons to have enough space to put the lcd as close to the front of the FMC as possible. I think that will be difficult with the 5,6 one.Norbert Bosch
August 11, 200322 yr Just had a look at the specs at partsexpress.com(sorry , should have done that before asking here)The 5,6 should will fit in fine. The overal dimensions would keep the thing just between the outer pins of the lsk buttonsOverall Dimensions (mm): 127W x 93H x 19D * Active Area (mm): 102.6 W x 74 H * There is no 5 inch for sale at partsexpress. But the problem is : they do NOT sell it anymore. :-(What to do now? Any other manufacturers?Norbert
August 12, 200322 yr http://www.aeicomp.com/search_result.asp?M...RY=LCD+MonitorsMore expensive, but maybe better quality.Richard
August 12, 200322 yr Norbert,You know Nico's site (http://home.planet.nl/~nwkaan/ ). He uses a small TV screen (as I do, but my site is not available at the moment). It's black&white only, but a lot cheaper.Kind regards,Stephan Haashttp://vatsim.pilotmedia.fi/statusindicato...tor=OD1&a=a.jpg
August 14, 200322 yr All,I have (2) 5" TFT displays that I purchased a while ago for the PFD and ND on my King Air, but it turns out they are too small (should have waited for the panels!). They measure 5" X 3.75", run on 12VDC and have an RCA Video-IN jack. I paid $145 a piece for them but will let them go for $125 each - brand new in the box. I'll post pictures later. If anyone can use them, let me know. Otherwise I'll put them up on EBay.-mitch
