Odd Joystick Axis behavior

Featured Replies

I recently wired my throttle quadrant (spoiler, flaps and 2 throttles) to a gameport D-15 adapter and installed it as a "Two 2-axis joystick" device (i.e. 4 axes) in Windows. It appears just fine and I can calibrate it EXCEPT...if I move the flaps pot (100k linear slide) near it's fullest extent the device suddenly becomes unrecognized in Windows and an error box appears on the screen. Moving back the slider causes re-recognition of the device.Any ideas what might cause this? The pot is perfectly functional through full travel. It worked just fine when I temporarily hacked it into an old MS joystick device. It works fine as long as I don't exceed a certain amount of travel...which makes calibration (and use)difficult.I'm wondering if I messed up the pinouts. The flaps pot shares a pin with the spoilers (which work fine through full travel). There is conflicting data on the web regarding the d-15 gameport connector pinout. Can anyone verify the CORRECT pinout for the MALE D-15 that I wire the pots to?Thanks!Scott Fausel

Well, I figured it out. Apparently I guessed incorrectly regarding which pinout diagram to believe. Hence I wired the common lead for spoilers and flaps to pin 15 and thus the odd behavior. Switched them to pin 9 and all is well :)Scott
