Regarding Mikes announciator lights circuit and FSBUS

Featured Replies

Hi all!Just finished the FSBUS LED board. It works good.My question:Is the power supplied by the FSBUS enough to drive all the leds? (24 per LED board). If i need to connect another led board... Maybe its a good idea to use Mikes LED circuit to minimize the use of power from the fsbus? My idea is to build a board with several "Driver circuit a'la Mike" and connect the LEDs to it. THen led the FSBUS LED drive the Driver circuit? Is this a good idea?/ Olle

Hello Olle, the complete LED board may consume ~160mA (20mA * 8). This is not much and may be driven by simple power supplies.I will use an old pc power supply for all the lamps and motors needed. I am currently developing a new COM board, compatible to the old one, which is suppied by this kind of power supply. The big question is: is 12V enough to flash the pics. The manual states 12-14V.As soon as that leaves its experimental stage, i will tell more.regards Dirk

But when using PC power supply for COM-board. You should add heatsink to 7805. It have to cut 7 volts to get requlated 5 volt output.- J
