September 28, 200322 yr Can anyone recommend a USB joystick which can be easily disassembled and allows pot replacement?I have a Logitech Wingman Attack USB joystick that I disassembled for use in my Airbus throttles. The pots are very small and according to an ohm meter, are not standard linear 100k ohm.I did replace the original pots with a 100k sliding pot. After much calibration in FS2004 and FSUIPC joystick sections, the throttle movements were still not linear and jumped rapidly from idle to full throttle. Can anyone recommend a good USB joystick that is easily disassembled and can accept 100k pots. Thanks,Richard
September 28, 200322 yr Richard,The 100Kohm pot became a standard for the gameport. Because USB game controllers have a local micro controller they don't have to use 100K units. The choice will be up to the design team, and could vary widely from model to model. You may find you get better performance from your hacked Logitech by using pots of the same value as the original. For a variety of reasons using pots of a substantially different value may be limiting the accuracy of the analog to digital conversion.Mikewww.mikesflightdeck.com
September 29, 200322 yr Hi Mike,Thanks for the technical info. I now see my mistake with the Logitech joystick.I have a stripped down Gravis Destroyer Xtreme USB joystick that I use for flaps and spoilers. It does use 100k pots for x, y, and z axis so I assumed all joysticks would be the same.If anyone knows of a USB joystick using 100k pots please let me know. Thanks,Richard
