October 1, 200322 yr Found this nice tool at Sportys.http://www.sportys.com/acb/showdetl.cfm?&U...t_ID=572&DID=19It's a flight guide of the East coast (they have others) that shows airport layout, frequencies, etc. Still need those sectionals though. Also explains atc communucation, airport operation, airspace procedures and more. $37.50 plus one year of free updates.Much easier than pausing FS while I look for info in Map View. Nice sim tool.Richard
October 1, 200322 yr From PeteHey rich! Ill 2nd that vote...Its a real great guide for Airport Layouts.simming or the real world! The other week i was with a friend approaching a local airportand we went into the debate which way the runways went...Sounds silly but it happens..The guide comes into great use..Had to hold it upside down to my friend to show him whichway was runway 5 but then again we didnt sound like Fools to thetower either as we were trying to find a hole in the cloudsto get through...When your 20 miles away and the tower says shoot a left basefor runway 5 you have to start planning ahead...The FAA sells a guide also for $5-7 but it does not cover the small airports...Pete http://home.comcast.net/~fs-boneyard:-wedge
October 1, 200322 yr This might be useful too:http://www.fsnordic.net/discussion/index.php?board=22 - check out the "Charts FAQ" there. For VFR flying the sectional map *really* does add to the realism. We in Finland are even fortunate to have a group of folks (http://fisd.fsnordic.net) that does awesome scenery work for finnish airports and other stuff. There's a landclass over whole Finland that makes cities and stuff be in more accurate sizes and places, plus there's "Finnmast" that puts all those masts there - so you can see them on the right spots when you locate them on the map..Tuomas
October 1, 200322 yr PeterK Flight simming is really a personnal adventure...some guyslove 777s other 172s but all one group... I just love VFR flights,,,1,200 feet or above the cloudsat 3,500 feet so Sectional charts and airport guides arespread out in the cockpit when flying.... One thing is that Flight simulator is the closest to matching the sectional charts....Fly! needed the aftermarketscenery disk..Fly!2 was improved but Arizona is still a messwhich is another place i fly in... FU2-3 ..Well if you like the Left coast of the US your goldenbut im on the right coast and it does a awful job fromMojave to Tucson... A $5 investment at the local airport in a sectional chartand some freeware scenery...I guess im satisfied with simmingpetehttp://home.comcast.net/~fs-boneyard:-wedge
