November 2, 200322 yr My winter project is going to be re-wiring my 737 cockpit. That is after I rip out the 1000miles of orginal wiring! :) Any ideas on an easy to use wiring schematic drawing software? Thanks,ROb
November 2, 200322 yr Hi Rob,a very easy to use and quite good program is the EaglePCB. It is also available as freeware with some limitations, one of them being that you can only have one schematic sheet. However you may want to try it.http://www.cadsoft.de/The basic function of Eagle is to design PCBs, after you deisgn the schematic first. So you have to try it first to see if it fits your needs.A further search in Yahoo! or similar can return you many results.Regards,George DorkofikisAthens, Greece
November 2, 200322 yr Check outhttp://www.pcb123.comYou can download their design software free. Of course, it's again made for designing PCB's, and it'll keep telling you the price for the current PCB layout if they make it for you, but the schematic part id prett good, and has a large library of electrical components you can just place on your schematic.Richard
November 2, 200322 yr I remember that site but if I recall correctly doesn't "free" come with a catch whereby you're stuck using their services for PCB production? The software does not import/export Gerber files, nor Netlists. However, if this has since been changed, please correct me.Eagle might be a better choice since it has Gerber/Netlist export capability, which might come in handy if you ever want to have PCBs made.-Leo
November 2, 200322 yr Sorry guys, i didn't clarify myself. I want to draw wire schematics like power supply to circuit breaker to switch to interface etc;. Not pcb's I know i probably need a CAD program but which is easiest?Rob

Not pcb's I know i probably need a CAD>program but which is easiest?Hi Rob, sorry, your question was fine, it was my response that was fuzzy :-( Programs like PCB123 (And I assume the Eagle one too, though I've not used it) work in two steps. In the first, you start with a blank shet of paper, place components - switches, LEDs, whatever - on it, then drag wires from point to point to connect it. After your wiring schematic is finished, you click a button to go to the second step, and convert the schematic to a physical design of a PCB. In your case, since you don't want a PCB, you could just print the schematic.Richard
November 3, 200322 yr Hello Raflyer,I don't have an immediate answer to your question but might be able to help clarify your request. Do you intend to document/design a Wiring Harness schematic for your cockpit ?Tom Peterson
