December 17, 200322 yr Does anyone know where I can get cockpit dimensions for a B1900D? They don't have to be 100% exact.
December 17, 200322 yr Hi Pookie, (feel weird saying that, your not my wife :) )Can't answer your question, but you may want to contact B1900_Mech here at avsim. http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=use...les&u_id=101593 On another note I looked at your VA's web page. Very nice!! I myself am a turbo prop fanatic. Have you started on your cockpit yet? I'm getting ready to build mine, but it won't be on par with some of the more serious builders here. I was inspired by Chris Cohens setup http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho..._id=5408&page=8Anywho, have you thought of using Oleksiy Frolovs awesome Dash 8? It's the ultimate turbo prop and would fit in well with your VA. He is currently making a Dash 8-400Q and it will be as complicated as the PIC767 :) Also PMDG is getting ready to release a B1900.Good luck with your pit! Post pics!Andy
December 17, 200322 yr Thanks for the links. No, I haven't started building yet. I'm in the VERY early stages. Before I start designing I want to get some of the main components together to ensure it'll all work. One of the main things I want this time (as opposed to my current cockpit at www.pookiedom.com/homecockpit) is to have a large outside view as well as a panel view of the gauges, similar to what Chris Cohens made, but with an LCD projector for the outside view. I'm currently investigating used LCD Projectors on ebay as well as looking at DIY projects, but sofar I've found that a used LCD Projector on ebay costs about the same as a DIY one. Anyway, I'll be sure to post pics or have a web site with pics. Thanks again ... AND if anyone else has dimensional info for the B1900, please let me know :)P.S. Yes, "Pookie" is the nickname of my wife and also it's what she calls me ... so, "Pookiedom", per our web site, is the "Kingdom" of "Pookie" - our POOKIEDOM - lol.
December 19, 200322 yr Hi, sorry it took me so long to reply, Tell me exactly what dimensions you want , And I will get them when I have the Time.
December 19, 200322 yr ALL OF THEM:(lolsorry, couldn't help it :(perhaps it's best that pooky makes a scetch of the cockpit and points out places to measure or just make a short "checklist" ;)
December 19, 200322 yr Jim,GREAT!!! I can't wait to get the dimensions. Thanks for your help. I've attached two pictures with the dimensions I need to get started. These DO NOT have to be exact. I just need a rough idea so the cockpit will resemble a B1900.Here's an explanation of what I'm looking for (refer to the pictures below):A - Height from floor to top of panelB - Total width of panelC - Distance from left side wall to center of yokeD - Distance from top of panel to center of yokeE - Length (available free leg room) from left side wall to throttleF - Height from floor to ceiling (the ceiling in this case being right above the panel, not the ceiling above the pilots). Therefore F minus A will provide height of available window above panel. F1 - height from floor to ceiling where pilots sit (not shown).G - Width of left front window G1 - Angle of the front window (not shown) This is the angle the front window slants towards the nose.H - Dimensions of this small triangular window H1 - Height H2 - Width (front to back) H3 - Length of the side on the angleI - Dimensions of the left window (not shown)http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/53431.jpg http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/53432.jpg I think that should do it for me to get started. I'm not making an EXACT replica, so again, only rough dimensions are required. Thanks again for your help.
December 22, 200322 yr I will Be at work on Monday. I am still waiting for a D-model to come thru, all we have had is C's in HYA.
December 23, 200322 yr AWESOME!!! Thank you so much. My wife and I just had dinner with bunch of friends the other night and one of the guys there is starting a job with Great Lakes Airlines and will be being trained in the B1900D. He now is my best friend, of course, and I hope to MAYBE get to sit in one (in the maintenance hanger) when he's been working for the company for a few months or so. I'm not sure what security measures they have, but at least there's an opportunity for me to be closer to it than just being a passenger. Anyway, thanks again for this and I'll probably make a web site highlighting the construction since there don't seam to be many B1900D home cockpits out there.
December 24, 200322 yr Well, it's NOT the finished product ... in fact, it's just the VERY beginning. Here are some shots from what I made in gmax to test the dimensions and see how it might look. Also, this gives me an idea of how to build the supporting structure. http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/54291.jpg http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/54292.jpg http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/54293.jpg
