Twin Engine Throttle using Gameport ???

Recommended Posts

I'm thinking of designing a twin engine throttle control and using my gameport for interface with my PC. I've learned that the gameport only has 4 axis inputs. How can I make a throttle with only 4 axis? I'm looking to have two levers for power to both engines, two levers for props for both engines and two levers for mixture ... that's a total of 6 axis. HELP !?!?!

Hi,Take a look at www.betainnovations.com. There is a fantastic and reasonnable priced USB solution for 16 axises.Roger

Wow!!! This thing rocks. I could design my entire cockpit around this one card. I currently use keyboard emulation for many buttons and string (believe it or not) for my throttle, mixture and flaps (www.pookiedom.com/homecockpit).This one device ($65 Assembled) looks like it can do everything I'm currently doing, plus provide the 16 axis control I need for not only my throttle, but also several other things, like flaps, trim, etc.I have only ONE question ... WHY, in the MANY hours of on-line searching, have I NOT come across this site sooner?Anyone out there use this? Comments?

Roger ... Do you have a source for fantastic and reasonnably priced output cards to drive 7-segment displays or LEDs? It looks like betainnovations is working on this, but it's not yet available.

I do successfully use the Plasma card. It just was a dream and this card is a breaktrough for us, cockpit builder. Only Epic could do it before but with boring lines and lines of programming and lots and lots and lots of dollars more to spent. Plasma is plug - ( you just have to calibrate each axises ) and configure like any other joystick in MSFS.Leo has also the the Gammaray card which is much better than any Keyboard encoder and Electronflux will be a must for the segment display, but also any other kind of output controls.RegardsRoger

LOL, what can I say, pookie.... Leo's been a member of this board for ages. I've been using the precursor to the Plasma - his 0x64b USB card for a year or so, and agree, it's great. The freeware he wrote to go with these cards is - IMHO - the only way to interface a USB device to FS.Richard
