January 1, 200422 yr Here are some previews of a project I've been working on since summer. They aquired much of my old hardware while I have been aquiring some *interesting* hardware for my own sim :-)http://www.t-b-x.com/prather/777project/Ne...d/AirHolly2.jpghttp://www.t-b-x.com/prather/777project/Ne...d/AirHolly3.jpghttp://www.t-b-x.com/prather/777project/Ne...d/AirHolly1.jpghttp://www.t-b-x.com/prather/777project/Ne...d/AirHolly4.jpghttp://www.t-b-x.com/prather/777project/Ne...d/AirHolly8.jpghttp://www.t-b-x.com/prather/777project/Ne...d/AirHolly9.jpgI still have some updates to make, like the dark brown trim, the lower EICAS, etc. Some parts, like the seats, were lent from my sim in exchange for paining, upgrading, etc.More updates and pictures this week!Roberthttp://The777Project.comhttp://ProMFD.cjb.nethttp://SimSpares.com

January 2, 200422 yr A cockpit in 4 months!!!That means one of 2 things...someone has some $$$ to spend...or a project for a movie. I think - BOTH!So...don't tease us...what is the project? (you don't have to name names...) Give us some juicy insights here! we won't tell anyone..honest!Great Job! I got ideas just by looking at the shell. [when i grow up, i want to be just like Robert!]
January 2, 200422 yr First of all, thank you guys very much for the feedback! I appreciate all the support sincerely.>> A cockpit in 4 months!!!It's amazing what you can do with a team of professional carpenters at your side, and an infinite budget LOL! The project was initially spearheaded by Chris Benton / AGT about 3 years ago, but the parts were that old. The "big" stuff was fine, but ALL the "close details" needed upgrading (panels, software, colors, seats, controls, switches...)Keep in mind too, that much of the stuff was preassembled since it was in my sim previously. We could have spent 2 days painting and assembling the center pedestal components alone. I didn't need any of the panels in my sim anymore, so I just sent out the whole frame.>> That means one of 2 things...someone has some $$$ to spend...or a project for a movie. I think - BOTH!Great deduction! The sim will be used in at least 3 movies this year. One is called Junior Pilot (slated for release this summer), a scary movie, and at least one more to be announced. It's interesting because the sim is a conglamorate of hardware from everybody (PFC, AGT, Pro MFD, FreeFD, Go Flight, Sim Spares, FDS, Aerosoft, etc). These movies will show how all these parts come together when put in action.Happy New Year!Roberthttp://PratherCreations.com
January 3, 200422 yr Hey Cuz... I am not going to lie, I am really jealous. Not your cockpit.. Its YOU! You could always find or dedicate your time on your creation. I could have done that too but always put it on delay. But, Anyway, that's looking good there. Keep up on your work, Looking forward for your bird to fly. Lemme know when its ready so I could pay visit to you and fly with ya. =-lol
January 3, 200422 yr Sup Cuz! Got to keep the projects in the *family*.. LOL.Interestingly enough... building this thing was relatively easy. The most difficult parts were:- Developing the paperwork- Customizing everything to fit and operate specifically as requested. For instance, they wanted custom messages to blink on the MFDs and they wanted it immediately .- Migrating EVERY new part into the sim given a strict construction deadline (14 hours ). We had to build 30% of this sim in one night.. lol!- Making it user friendly. They need to at least be able to bring the sim up in cruise mode to show a client or run it as "semi-static"Forgive me if I have repeated things you already knew, but I have since learned that the logistics of a commercial project are a lot more involved than the sims we build for ourselves. Everything has to be properly licensed, budgeted, and like you said you can't just start it and change your mind. That's been my problem in the past too, but this one has inspired change :-)Peace!Robert Prather
January 4, 200422 yr >>Got to keep the projects in the *family*.. LOL. :-LOL you got that right cuz, maybe I should add that on my 2004 resolution list.>Forgive me if I have repeated things you already knew, but I have >since learned that the logistics of a commercial project are a lot >more involved than the sims we build for ourselves. Everything has >to be properly licensed, budgeted, and like you said you can't just >start it and change your mind. That's been my problem in the past >too, but this one has inspired change :-)If I could have team, or have somebody who would be willing to share their ideas, money, and skill this would be the key of success for my project. "a final inspiration" But I am doing all of single work and this would put me in lot of complication, fustrating, and extending time on budget to purchase some cockpit related items so. If I could create own cockpit item, It would also extend my time looking for parts or information or find a perfect dimension. But to say this.... I ll keep my hope up and try to finish it all. :-)
