Convert wheel to yoke?

Featured Replies

Hello. I have an old Thrustmaster Gran Prix1 Steering wheel with throttle/brakes and a few other various buttons. (See Attached picture) Being on a budget, I was considering converting it to a yoke setup (for FS2004) since I never use it for driving. Has anyone done this or have any suggestions? Is it worth the effort? Thanks,Dan

Hi,Roll control and average aviation look could be achieved. Just take away the upper third of the wheel and you will have a kind of DC3 wheel. Try to strenght the axises with metal springs, better with air spring or small hydraulic damper find in car boneyards. The only problem I see is the pitch control. That's a bit complicated to help since I dont not know that item. You may probably have to change the main axis, change it for a metallic one. Then I am not sure that it is worth all that work. RegardsRoger

Great suggestions, thanks. I'll have to pull the wheel apart and see what the internals look like. It may be one of those things that will cost more time and money than just buying the real thing.I appreciate the replies. Thanks,Dan
