January 10, 200422 yr I have been looking around for a few days and cannot seem to find any on-line locations where I can purchase knobs. I am hoping to find something affordable (white 1/4" if possible) as I am needing 30-50 knobs. Any ideas? Thanks
January 10, 200422 yr Russ...most of the electronics supply houses have knobs. (mouser, digitech, etc). Just search on 'knob' and they will pour out!HOWEVER...you need to be a little bit careful in selection...or you'll spend a bunch of $$!- Most do not have white knobs...most are phenolic resin (bakelite) and are black. They will need to be painted...so be prepared to make those modifications. They look very nice when done right- Be careful not to select 'aluminium' knobs...they are very expensive ($7-20 each) and too overbuilt for our purposes. Most Phenolic knobs are anywhere from $0.50 to $4.00 each.- Select interior hole diameters that match your switches- For radio knobs...you may need to mount one knob on top of a larger knob and then do some funky gearing and connecting to make the two work...I haven't figured that out yet...but maybe someone else on the forum has.
January 10, 200422 yr With regards to the radio knobs, there's an excellent tutorial on how to make dual rotaries, and rotaries with buttons, at www.opencockpits.comI found these tutorials to be very useful, plus they're very easy to make!
