January 21, 200422 yr Guys,What type of switch do I need to use for auto brakes to hook up to a board - say a Plasma from Beta innovations. I see in FSUIPC(unreg) that there is only commamds to increase or decrease autobrake setting not autobrake 1,2,3 etcAlso for thrust reversers - are they variable. Can you use a pot and have variable reverse thrust or is it either on or off.cheersDave
January 21, 200422 yr In FSUIPC there is a command "Autobrake Set". Below the command line bx there's a box labelled "Parameter". Assigning a keystroke from a Plasma to that command causes whatever's in the PAameter box to be written to MSFSIn this case, '0' sets autobrake to RTO, "1" is OFF, "2" is Brake 1, "3" is brake 2, "4" is brake 5 and "5" is brake max.You can use any type of switch you want to simulate those keys. My suggestion would be a 6 position rotary - connect the center pin to the Plasma's common ground, and each of the other pins to an input. Richard
January 21, 200422 yr Richard,Thanks. Its not in my version of FSUIPC but I see its in the registered version so have ordered my copy.cheersDave
January 21, 200422 yr Good choice. FSUIPC is really a great soft in regards onthe cheap price for this shareware ...:) BOB
January 22, 200422 yr Hi Dave.... just a word on the key problem you're having (I've posted the same reply at the FSUIPC forum, but it's something that happens commonly, so I've put it here too to for anyone else who has the same problem.)Entering a key assignment in FSUIPC does not remove the assignment set to the same key by MSFS itself. After assigning, say, "Ctrl-B" to "Autobrake Off" in FSUIPC, go to the main MSFS assignments page and make sure it isn't set to anything there. The easiest way to do that is to choose a command that currently has no key command and click "Change Assignment". Then click "Ctrl-B", and MSFS will either say "That key is available, click OK to continue", or "That key is currently assigned to #####". If it's assigned, go to that command and click delete assignment. If a key is set in FSUIPC to one thing, and to another in MSFS, you'll get that repeat back and forth whenever you hit it. The other thing to check is that in Keyboard Studio you don't have "Repeat while pressed" selected - you want KBEmul to send the keystroke once when you turn the rotary to that position, not keep continually sending it.As for PM, it sounds like PM also has the same key assignment set to something different, but I don't know PM's interface at all I'm afraid.Richard
January 23, 200422 yr You can also delete assignments 'en masse' using the FS9.cfg file. Just remove all the relevant assignment key codes under "keyboard main". (FYI the square brackets don't show up on the forum...so I used "").for example:"KEYBOARD_MAIN"SELECT_1=49,8SELECT_2=50,8SELECT_3=51,8SELECT_4=52,8Becomes[KEYBOARD_MAIN]SELECT_1=SELECT_2=SELECT_3=SELECT_4=OR...better yet, just eliminate the line altogether!
January 23, 200422 yr Hi Dave - I knew about deleting via the config file, but the problem with doing that is you have to be able to decrypt what '49,8' etc means, and if you mess it up, then the key assignments that you do use disapear too. I find it easier to just do it through the MSFS' menu.Richard
