June 2, 200422 yr What he needs is a rotary decoder to interpret each CW/CCW rotation. Otherwise unless he has some funky wiring setup, the encoder that it's connected to may not know which way the rotary is turned.
June 2, 200422 yr I think you are after a Knitter rotary pulse switch, going by what you have described, contacts are temporarily closed with each detent, seperate contacts for CW & CCW with a common pin.Am I on the right track Dirk or are you trying to do something more complex. If this sounds like what you are after then check here:http://www.knitter-switch.com/db/PDF_en/721.zipCheers Glenn. You can check out my Simpit Project here:http://www.simhardware.co.nz/forums/viewtopic.php?t=33
June 2, 200422 yr Hi Glenn,Yes, you are on the right track.Knitter rotary pulse switch is just what I am looking for. Thanks very much for the link. I printed the PDF and begin the search in the electronics stores (very scarce here!).I will let know about the project progress.Best regards.Dirk Trotteyn (SANT)
June 3, 200422 yr Hi Guys,Now, with a little more time, will explain what I was looking for:Is a special switch that makes a sequence of closures on one set of contacts when turned clockwise, but not counter-clockwise. It makes a sequence of closures on another set of contacts when turned counter-clockwise. This is a schematic draw of the switch I have in mind.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/78645.jpgThere is a lot of work to home-build so a kind of switch, and if you can find it in a store ready for buy, there is not a lot to think. The
