CNC Drilling machine

Recommended Posts

Guest High Octane

I remember back then, there was an issue about CNC drilling machine. And I can't seem to find any. So question is... Is there any site that sells cnc for cheap? I assure it's possible to build one on own but I am afraid that could or would not make it quality, wouldn't they? Let me know with more details.

Arthur,It all depends upon what sort of CNC you are looking for and what you mean by cheap. The RC airplane hobby crowd has a small group that pursues homebuilt CNC machines for cutting parts from balsa and thin plywood. These machines work quite well and can be built for a few hundred dollars. There are a couple of individuals who sell plans. www.crankorgan.com is the site of one. Some of these CNC machines can be used to fabricate PC boards and slowly mill softer metals. They would also be suitable for engraving plastic light plates. If you are interested in machining faster, or machining harder metals, there are conversion kits that will allow you to upgrade manually operated, smaller milling machines, like the Tiag, to a CNC mill. This is an involved topic. There is a tremendous amount of information about home built CNC machines on the RC Groups forum here: http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread....20&page=1&pp=15 This is a very long thread, starting in September 2002, and now approaching 2000 posts.Mikewww.mikesflightdeck.com
