Dimming the backlit

Recommended Posts

Guest High Octane

This question is probablly been asked. With a potentiometer and a 12 volt lamp (Total 7 in link) how do I get it dimmed? I have tried it and it burns out the potentiometer... so do I need to add some resistor or anything? Let me know

Look for some 12v dimmer. When using high power lamps you have to use a high power circuit that eighter limits voltage, or chops it at high frequency (pwm modulation). They are really simple, just a few components:a couple capacitors, resistors, a ne555 used as oscillator, the pot used to regulate the pwm, and a high power transistor (MOS) to actually drive the power device attached.Trywww.epanorama.netand search eighter for 12v dimmer or pwm ne555.
