January 10, 200521 yr So we finished putting up the extra two monitors and mirrors for our sim. We have Parhelia and it works okay. It's not the coolest killer videocard anymore, but it is fast enough (the cpu is Athlon XP 2500+) - does the job. The benefit is that we dont need 3 pc's for this. Our sim now has a total of 3 collimated mirror units from Finnair's retired DC-10 simulator, those work reasonably well, there is a minor problem with the alignment since if we align everything to the pilot's head, the copilot will have large black bars in the view, and vice versa. Currently its aligned in the center, thus there are small, tolerable discontinuity in the view for both. But what makes this really really good is the visual cues on the far sides of your field of view - it really creates a deeper sense of motion. So the benefit is better than the small glitch.http://tigert.gimp.org/aviation/vatsim/coc...isuaali-800.jpghttp://tigert.gimp.org/aviation/vatsim/coc...f/pulja-800.jpgTuning required to get everything aligned as well as possible, the horizon needs to be a straight line at least :) But it was fun to try formation flight with some AI planes :)//Tuomas
January 10, 200521 yr nice :)You should also notice with 3 views that when you are on or around an airport you get a much better feel like you are actually there. Simply because you see more of the buildings. I'm sure you've noticed that already. With 1 display you come in for landing, when close the the treshold you will see in front of you, nothing but the runway + taxiways. If you see nothing but that untill the moment you actually turn left/right on a taxiway .. this means that all that period (from inner marker to vacating) you could be at any #### airport in the world, wouldn't look different to you. Now with the 3 views that's totally different!
