January 31, 200521 yr Hi,I was told 737 rudder pedals are pivoted at the bottom and actually pedals move angularly and trace an arch. After learning this, i looked critically at the photos of the real aircraft and it seemed true as the opening in the housing through which pedals project out seemed to have curvature. Depending on the radius, they may seem to slide, but in reality they could be swinging around a pivot. So question i am wondering is - is it the same for 777 also? Or 777 rudders truely slide horizontally? thankssrini
February 1, 200521 yr Hi srini,777 rudder acts similar as 737 rudders. the rods are going deep below the cockpit floor. don't know exactly how deep. but definitive no horizontally movement.I enclosed 2 jpg's I took at the 777! One is in the cockpit. You see the rudder pedal and the rods behind the housing. The other is below cockpit floor, where all the controls are mounted. You see the rudder pedal rods and more - very complex ...Hope this helps!Best from ViennaHans G.
