August 25, 200223 yr hi to all fellow fs2002 flyers. new to this sim thing but one of the reasons i got it was to hopefully try the famous checkerboard approach to kai-tak. well little did i knwo that it doesn't exist on fs2002 -aaaaargh!! can anyone tell me if there is a freeware one in existence and from what website? also i am looking for some challenging adv3entures to fly can i get a list of everyon's favorite airports they use?? cheers, gooper
August 25, 200223 yr There is no FS2002-specific freeware scenery yet available for Kai Tak, but there is an excellent FS2000 package which works fine. You can get all the excitement of the Rwy13 IGS approach with this scenery. It's in the File Library at www.avsim.com and the file name is kaitak.zip . Here is another site which you also might like which has FS2002 Kai Tak specific information and links to more goodies: http://www.swiremariners.com/cxkaitak.html .Trip
August 26, 200223 yr don't know if hte above is the same file, but if you go to www.flightsim.com and search for Kai Tak in the FS2000 section, you should see Thomas Kwong's scenery. It is for FS2000 but works just fine in FS2002.http://turnhead.com/dot/alex/banner-retro-cool.gif
August 26, 200223 yr Yes, its the same file. Great stuff. For a while it looked like Thomas might do something for FS2002 but it's been quite a long time now so maybe he decided not to do it afterall. I sure wish I knew how to do that stuff because we really need a freeware FS2002 framerate-friendly version.Trip
August 26, 200223 yr Thomas HAS said he will do it, but it may take some time as he has to start from scratch; and he's up to other stuff too. Whether it'll be framerate friendly is another matter! Anyway, his Version 3 for FS2000 works fine in FS2002 (don't forget the exclude lines) although you'll see a few water textures around that don't quite match up to the new sim, but who cares about that? His Version 2 for FS2000, also, is the same airport but with a little less detail and less complex surrounding buildings; it's a lot better on FPS if the flying bit is all you're interested in.There are two commercial sceneries of Kai Tak available for FS2002, but it appears that they're somewhat out of scale, regrettably. If Thomas DOES turn up with the goods, that'll be the one to go for.Mark "Dark Moment" Beaumonthttp://www.swiremariners.com/cxkaitak.htmlhttp://www.swiremariners.com/reds.htmlhttp://www.swiremariners.com/cxkaitakv3.jpg _________________________ Mark "Dark Moment" Beaumont VP Fleet, DC-3 Airways Team Member, MAAM-SIM
August 26, 200223 yr Trip, there is an even newer file called kt2000v3.zip by Thomas which works just fine within FS2002.CheersPhilCome to DAD!http://www.dangerous-airports.com/images/dad_logo.jpg
