Space restrictions on the radiopanel?

Featured Replies

Hallo to allI just made my prototype of the navradio. It will consist out of a front and a backlayer to get a 3d effect. On the pic you see the backlayer. The dimensions are as the real thing (67 x 146 mm)I will use 5 10 mm 7segm leds. The openings for the leds are 52 x 13 mm. The height of the 7 segm led is 13 mm , so iy will fit exactly. The front layer will have a opening that is 1 mm less.But... The pcb for the 10 mm leds will have a connection at the left. (it is shown on the pic). These are so big that teh righthand display will interfere with the lefthand display. Perhaps I could solder the flatcable direct to the pcb. But even then I would not have enough space for the swap pushbutton in the middle.Has anybody solved this?I see many beatiful pics from builders, but I am very interested in the technical solutions that are behind the panel.regardsNorberthttp://home.wanadoo.nl/norbert.bosch

Hi Norbert,I have made my own pcb's for that and connect the flatcable direct to it because I struggle with that too.Are you able to made your own pcb's?If you want I'll send you the pcb layout in pdf format (postscript). It's for 4 and 5-7 segment leds.Kind regardsJan Geurtsen.

Hi JanThanksk for the answer. I have a cnc machine but it can only make pcb with a smallest line of 0,8 mm, so thats is too big for fsbus. But I would be glad if you send the file to me.Postscript is fine. (if you have gerber, that would even be better).regardsNorbert
