I am new to this "hobby", and a little confused as to what to do next. I happened upon an F-111 crew module years ago, it had been converted into a Cockpit Familiarization Trainer. It came with all documents and schematics, but blows a fuse after five minutes. It is my goal to make it into a twin engine jet simulator. I went with the Epic USB because of the vast number switches, dials, knobs, buttons, lamps and hats present in the cockpit. But now that I have it, and am scouring the web for information on how to make it work, I am running into very old material. Is there an active EPIC community on the web?I have found many sites featuring cockpits and EPIC controllers, many with sample code provided, thousands of lines. My problem is in establishing a base level of control over the EPIC card (ie 2 axis j-stick w/ 2 buttons). Is there anywhere a minimal set of Project files? I look at these files and I can't tell what is code I need, what is code that everyone needs always and what is code that the guy who wrote it needed.

Welcome.Take a look over at www.simengineers.com. There is a hardware forum there containing an Epic forum. Ray (forum owner and self styled "head Geek") is pretty knowledgeable about Epic. He can give you a hand.Good luck on your project. Not too many F-111 sims around. Be sure to post some pictures.Mikewww.mikesflightdeck.com

Thanks Mike, just bought your book a couple of weeks ago, and it's already given me some hope about being someday able to "activate" the big tape gauges on the pilot's side of the F-111, with stepper motors, it would seem. Enjoyed the book, thanks.
