The best projector

Featured Replies

As my cockpit is quite finish, I've to bought a video projector .. :-)But with so much models and benchmark ... It's hard to know which one is the best for my configuration.(I know some close questions were posted before but I'vnt fine the answer to my questions)I've a closed two place biturboprops cockpit 2 x 2 m in a 4 x 4 m room. A 3.6 P4 with a 6600GT Nvidia GC. I've very hi frame rate and flight VFR most of all: the landscape is important. What I need:- Hi resolution minimum 1024*760 or more- Wide angle due to the small room (or I can project front the front to a rear mirror which resent the image to the front, that's possible)- low Latenz und hispeed response (hi frame rate)- normal Brightness- Budjet: ~ 1700 Euros = 2200 $ = 2500 SFRMy questions:- what the best choice vs DLP and LCD ? (LCD have higher resolution) (Is a good LCD better than a cheap DLP ?)- For PC game displaying with hi frame rate is a Home movie projector better than a PC data projector ?- Do you know a model which match with my configuration ?Thank's for you helpBOB

I can't answer your questions, but I can tell about my setup.I bought a ACER PD523 DLP projector for my simulators. It's a native XGA (1024x768) able to show up to 1280 x 1024 with 2400 ansi lumens, I run it on 1600 ansi lumens to get another 1000 hours from the lamp. Running at eco mode give you a total of 3000 hours from lamp, lamp cost is about 300 euro, pretty cheap running cost i think. As it's a DLP projector the contrast is very good (2000:1) I have similar limitations of my room as you have, so I use a mirror to get enough distance to give me size of picture I want. This setup gives me: distance from projector to mirror = 1,6 meters. Mirror to screen = 2,0 meters = totalt projection distance 3,6 meters. The projected image is about 1,8 meters wide. I'm very satisfied with the projector, it's bright, silent and gives me a very nice picture with good framerate.I paid about 1300 Euro in Sweden a month ago, it's a bit cheaper now. Here's a link to manufacturers data http://www.acercomputer.se/acereuro/page4....&crc=3229583420At my homepage, there is a movie where you can see how it looks.

Nice videoThe image is large and the immersion impression is goodWhat about the pixel, do you see pixels ?BOB

Yes, as the screen is only 80cm from my head I see pixels. If I move my head away another meter, then I don't see pixels anymore. But I prefer to have from pilot view, a very large screen with pixels than a smaller screen without pixels. Personally I feel that the large screen gives me so more feeling that I dont bother about the pixels. I still can see all the details that I want to see.

Impressive ;)Can you send pictures of your mirror setup? I am working in a room that is 2.4m by 4.8m and am going to use mirrors as well, but can use all the help I can get.

I'll take some pictures this evening, and will post in this thread.
