I'd like to order my switches soon, as I want to start building my panels. The problem is: the real switches can't be found anymore, even NASA uses new switches. The factories who made them closed down.So reality is no issue. But size is! I'd like to know from you, who should have some experience throwing switches, what is a good size?Since I need a LOT of switches (do I hear 800 pieces??), I'd like them to be as cheap as possible. Currently, Futurlec is the cheapest. I mailed to ask the dimensions and this is what I got:SPST10 - Base - Length - 13mm, width - 8mm, height - 10mm - Toggle - 15mm Mounting hole - 5mm diameterIs this big enough? I may eventually get my hands on a real space costume (or make one myself, who knows), so there's a possebility that the switches will be operated with gloves on. Is that doable?Or do I need bigger ones... If yes, where to get them cheap? This may sound like a silly question, but I think it's rather important if you take a look at the price. Even 0.35

*kick*No one who has experience with this? I really need to know this, because I can't continue without and just buying 1 to see is such a waste of money...

>That's what we others did too.. :)Well, I tought a forum was here to not have to invent the wheel twice. Does everybody develop his own interface? Gets in a cockpit and measure everything? I hoped someone could answer this :(>And for sure we wouldnt know the size of your gloves..That's true, but you can estimate it, no? If you are having difficulties with the size already, it's impossible with gloves!Greets,Toine

Hi Toine! Not that easy to answer for us! You say you want to start building your panels. what panels. FDS panels, your own panels etc...The most important is: the switches should be ok for YOU. when they have the real size, then its superb. But: no one (except you) will measure eatch switch judging its size compared to the real cockpit. When you are a lucky guy, you are able to acquire original mcp switches for example, as I was able for my setup. Well, than you have the real ones. and they are 0,75" in square btw. When you are using FDS panels, simply ask PCos for the measurements, or use his K1 switches. They will be as close as possible.Last but not least: use the web to find out measurements of all the honeywell switches used for aircraft and other switches like them out there...You see, lot of ways how you can go - simply find the best way for you.Hope that helps a bit. Thanks for the good advice...I'm making my own panels, as I don't know of any company making space shuttle panels ;)The real switches are not made anymore, even NASA uses "normal" ones as replacement.I was just wondering if that size (15mm) are large enough to grab with gloves on... I already went hunting in my house (gloves on) for a switch that size, but it's nowhere to be found :(

Thanks a lotSince there's no cheaper alternative, I think I'll go for thoseI found a switch a bit bigger and it went fine...
