September 2, 200520 yr Just as general information......I've recently been in contact with Dirk in regards to the use of common anode displays with FSBUS "classic", and the problem of the non-functioning last digit. Turns out pin 3(RA4) of the PIC is bi-directional, and when used as an output, it's a open drain configuration (just like open collector except it's a FET). A possible solution he proposed was to cut the line, add a pull-up resistor and emitter follower. I haven't tried it yet, but will post what I come up with for a final solution.
September 5, 200520 yr Hi GusBI'll be interested to see your result with this, as will I am sure a few others. Thanks for sharing it with us.

September 12, 200520 yr Hi PeterHey............. thanks for trying the fix!!!!! I still haven't had a chance to try it..... just got back from vacation. What you did looks fine. If you feel the LED segments in the last digit are not bright enough, you could reduce the 18K a little for more base drive. Off hand I don't know what the gain of the BC337 is, but you shouldn't have any problem going down to 10K (that's still only .5mA of current). Gus
