December 18, 200520 yr Hi again,Finally I made two major steps on my way towards a better cockpit experience:1. Bought a Benq PB2250 projector (awesome MSFS view!)2. Bought that www.cncdudez.com CNC (not here yet)Now I'll have my hands full
December 18, 200520 yr Hey Al,Wow... So you actually spent about 3000$ in one go...(1000 for the projector, 2000 for the cnc)You're making me jealous :(Any pictures/movies of both machines while working? And when do we get to see your first panels?Greets,Toine
December 19, 200520 yr Hmm - I should hide this thread from my wife... I am sure she had quite a few plans for those $$. Let's say Santa was especially pleased with me this year .No pictures/movies yet - the CNC is yet to arrive and I haven't installed the projector in its final position yet.As for "when the panels?": I have run the panel plans through a CNC simulator and everything seems to be OK. I guess that within 1-2 months of learning and ruining some Lexan sheets I will be able to show-off the first "production samples".
December 19, 200520 yr From your site:"I've tested the visual system and I really like it. It uses a 25" TV Fresnel lens. The 3D graphics seem to be hanging in the air. The collimating effect of the Fresnel lens is unbelievably effective. This means that I will not use a projector after all."Why the sudden change?
December 20, 200520 yr Well... I saw an Imax space movie that changed my "point of view" and I was hooked. There is nothing like a 90" screen! I was thinking of using 3 displays + fresnel lenses (similar to bug-eye) but the POV had to be in a quite precise position and once you leave that, the effect disappears.Besides, now I can also watch movies on 90" too .
