January 25, 200620 yr Ok, I'm tired of the so called play-dough soft gel hardware that they call Yokes, Rudders & throttles that are truly a joke. The software is incredible and the hardware is nothing more than garbage. It's an injustice that the software to some of the most advanced simulators in the history of this hobby are so realistic and the hardware is so unrealistic. If you have ever experienced a real simulator or the real airplane for that matter and I'm particularly referring to the 737 NG, there is no way that the std in the industry yoke, rudders and throttle systems are a real disappointment. Can anybody recommend a yoke, throttle, & rudder system that doesn't have the feel of a nintendo game and is so far from realistic as you could possible go.....I don't care about how much it costs, I care about realism and the realism is there with the software, it's just not there with the hardware. Sorry if I burst any bubbles, but it's my own humble opinion since I've flown the real simulator for a number of hours and the existing hardware is by all accounts nothing more than a pure waste of money as the real thing handles a helluva lot different than a ** yoke & rudder system....Sorry to be so blunt but the facts are what they are..Regards,jack
January 25, 200620 yr Why are you so sure that it's not the sim, but the hardware ? In what way is the real hardware different from what we've got ?Isn't it the sim that determines how sensitive or whatever a hardware comes across ?
January 26, 200620 yr Unless you have another type of yoke other than the std. CH products, I can assure you that it's not the sim but the hardware. If you had the chance to fly a 737NG in a 'Real Flight Simulator', you would quickly understand the difference. It's not even remotely close to the real thing.Just looking for anyone that has any ideas as to what hardware would be closest to the real thing. Believe me, I've got plenty of hours in the real sim..Regards,jack
January 26, 200620 yr Sure I want to believe you. Hey I don't even got CH. I got my joystick broke open and worked it into my own yoke system and my plane is not confortably controlable with that setup. But I'm quite convinced that's more to do with the fine-tuning of the sensitivity and all.But by all means .. can you explain what the differences are ? Or is it pure feeling ?I'd love to go check out the motion F50 sims in Maastricht but all I have had the honor of visiting is the static trainer and perhaps you know .. yoke doesn't do much in there. So I wouldn't know.
January 26, 200620 yr CH yoke is just very light and plastic'y. Even a Cessna 150 is feeling more "sturdy".CH is just the cheapest option there is and for that quite good for the price.Check out www.flypfc.com for example for other kinds of yokes and controls - those are a bit more heavy-duty. Or make your own (or have them made for you) from metal. The problem is the price - people are not willing to pay for "real" ones since those usually cost a lot more. Sure the CH yoke is very light and plastic, but it's still a lot better than a stock joystick. Also it's about balance: if you have a super yoke but different pedals and throttles, the imbalance of feeling is more disturbing than having a quite lightweight but balanced set of controls.Bottom line is, it's not real anyway, but by doing the *sum of parts* in right balance, it can be quite convincing. //Tuomas
