February 23, 200620 yr Ok I have read through a number of posts in a number of forums and I am confused. Some people say that they have used the PMDG 737 or the LDS 767 to build their cockpits. Some have posted that they use both PMDG or LDS and Project Magenta.Does this mean that you would use the PMDG flight model and system logic and only use Project Magenta for displaying stuff like PFD,ND and EICAS? So all switches and buttons like the FMC talk to the FMC in the actual PMDG plane? As you cannot network these planes.. do these people have all their IO cards connected to their main computer for things like the fmc? In other words I am looking to make some sense out of what is possible with the current software and what is not.
February 26, 200620 yr Well, I use the PMDG only for the flight model, not for the system logics. all this goes to Project Magenta. Actually I even use a modified air file I found at the PM forum. The main computer has the PM MCP software running and the CP Flight MCP/EFIS/NAV hardware attached to the serial port. Also the main Flight controls are attached to it through USB. On this machine of course MS-FS and PMDG add-on. These apps themself are not networked, but FSUIPC and WideFS take care of interfacing. Apart from the main flight controls all logics are handled by PM over the network in conjunction with WideFS.The Second computer has the PM PFD/ND/Upper Display Unit running over two screens. The third computer has the PM CDU software running. The forth computer has PM Systems and Sounds running. Connected to this one are the USB phidgets boards which do the overhead switches. The fifth computer runs PM instructor, my latest addition. For more info on my setup see http://ifsbi.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=245 and subsequent links.
