March 20, 200620 yr Hi everyone,I was just wandering how many of you out there have implimented the Bank Angle Limiter on their B737 MCP? I just ask out of interest because whilst building mine today I was looking for inspiration and it seemed that on every site I looked at, most people had just used the Heading select knob with nothing behind, although they put the degree scale on their MCP.Simonaka The Porcupine<> SORRYVery slowely progressing with a genericish twin desktop unit.
March 21, 200620 yr I don't think I've seen any non-commercial sim with the bank limiter operational. I remember a thread a year or so ago discussing the same, with the comment that it is rarely changed from 25 degrees?I would say that a working mag switch for the auto throttle is probably more important. However, if I find a reasonably priced rotary encoder with a concentric 30 degree rotary switch I'll certainly add it. The 737 also needs a couple of similar rotaries but with 45 degree switches for the N1 / SPD bug setting.Anyone know a source?CheersChris
March 21, 200620 yr Hi Chris,What you say is true, and in these days of autoflight from gear up to touchdown it probably almost never gets moved in the real NG. The AFDS automatically limits bank angle,(if I remember correctly) to 7 degrees below 200 ft agl, 15 degrees 200 to 400 ft agl then 30 degrees above this.>>I would say that a working mag switch for the auto throttle is>probably more important. How I have dreamed of finding such a thing, at a reasonable price!>However, if I find a reasonably>priced rotary encoder with a concentric 30 degree rotary>switch I'll certainly add it.I have used two rotary switches in a self made back to back configeration and interfaced it with IOCards and SIOC, just for the #### of it really.>The 737 also needs a couple of>similar rotaries but with 45 degree switches for the N1 / SPD>bug setting.>Anyone know a source?Flight Deck Solutions sell them: http://www.flightdecksolutions.com/list_pr...hp?id=40&page=2>Variable Rotary Selector (VRS45)>>Selectable steps, 2 to 8 positions with 45 degree indexing >Price: $ 5.50Simonaka The Porcupinewww.desktopflying.co.uk <>Very slowely putting together a generic(ish) twin desktop unit.
March 21, 200620 yr >>How I have dreamed of finding such a thing, at a reasonable>price!>I sold lots of them last year. If I find some more I'll let you know. Good old British Royal Mail lost 3 of them which I still owe to a friend in the US, but I'm sure I'll get some. They were in the region of
March 21, 200620 yr Please, if you ever get another one(mag switch) just let me know. I'll be there within 4 hours, 3 in the evening! Seriously, I imagine quite a few bits 'become' available from your nearest airport if you 'know' the right people.Sorry, did not understand what exactly you were looking for with the rotary. Is the -200 TQ still for sale?Simonaka Porcupinewww.desktopflying.co.uk <>Very slowely putting together a generic(ish) twin desktop unit.
